What’s up with that Cactus?
You have certainly asked yourself, what’s up with that Cactus, did you? How did they come up with that? Here, we’ll reveal it.
The name Cactus was born in a little south-American steakhouse. We came together for a pleasant evening to find a name for our new baby – means our new business. We wanted to brainstorm in relaxed atmosphere. Everything was allowed as long as it could be pronounced easily in German, English and French. And, of course, the name should not turn to complete nonsense in one of these languages.
Our business still was in the fledgling stages, quasi just an idea. But it should go international for sure. As we speak fluently German, English and French, our business had to target those regions.
To tell the truth… The evening dragged on and on. Even at the desert we still had no acceptable idea. At least not one that we would have called inspiring. We‘ve been through the standards such as all combinations of our own names or their abbreviations. Nothing…
The „enlightenment“ came with the increasing vine consumption, when nobody really believed in a solution anymore, and everybody was more jacking and fooling around instead of seriously approaching the subject. A moony eye on the restaurant’s decoration… A closer look on something green, something prickly… And a “Hey, that’s it! Why not CACTUS?” The first reaction: „That suits you, you are prickly too, sometimes!“
Doubts have been removed easily. The name actually could be pronounced in the three languages and did not change its meaning. Sure, with its prickles it is quite defending, but it is a friend in time of need, because it retains water that could save someone dying of thirst in the dessert. And apart from that, we would never be at a loss for a suitable giveaway…
Since then we observe again and again that the name is approved and very catchy. Long time no seen friends often ask us “How’s your cactus?” and they don’t mean our houseplants…
